Policymaking for Pollution Prevention

Pollution prevention and control needs a National policy to ensure local action and peoples coordination. Pollution prevention rules are needed to limit the phosporus content of detergents and control execessive weeds in water bodies and bio-degradeable surfactants to prevent foam rafts in lakes. We also need to limit the mercury content of tubelights and fluoroscents among the lead and heavy metal content of paints, pigments, toys, etc. Phase-out of use and throw PVC will control dioxins. Sanitary napkins need to be fully compostible.
